Dear colleagues,

On behalf of the European Veterinary Immunology Group (EVIG) and the Local Organizing Committee, it is our pleasure to announce that 7th EVIW will take place in Belgrade, Serbia, from 29 to 31 August 2021. COVID-19 is still spreading around the world, making all of our planning vulnerable and at the moment, we do not have a definite decision about the form of our meeting. With the relatively small size of EVIW, we are in a situation where we can adapt quickly and, if at all sound and possible, we are determined to organize an in-person workshop. We want you to not only participate in communicating great science, but also to experience Belgrade, see it with your own eyes, enjoy its sounds and get enchanted by its hidden treasures. All of this will only come to life if we do gather at the Kolarac venue, in the heart of Belgrade, in August 2021. The final decision whether the workshop will be in-person or online, will be made according to the COVID-19 situation and will be communicated to you timely.

East greets west is the motto of 7th EVIW. Those who love and know Belgrade, love it because of its rich history, which has rarely ever been gentle to this city and its inhabitants. Situated on many hills, above a magnificent place where the river Sava merges with the Danube, it has always been a tempestuous limes between mighty kingdoms, Eastern and Western, Romans and barbarians, Serbian and Hungarian, Austro-Hungarian and Ottoman. It is no wonder then that Belgrade wholeheartedly greets people from all around the world.

The COVID-19 pandemic emphasizes that research in immunology represents an essential pillar for common health and welfare. This is also our motivation to make 7th EVIW a productive meeting focused on knowledge dissemination and organization of optimal professional service. The program of 7th EVIW will be published shortly. Invited talks and short presentation topics cover:

  • One Health approach to pandemic preparedness
  • Big Veterinary vaccinology challenges
  • Vaccine platforms/technologiess
  • Innate immunology
  • Adaptive immunology

Special focus will be given to opportunities for young immunology researchers and challenges in teaching veterinary immunology.

Abstract submission opens on Monday, 29 March 2021.

Once again, the EVIW is a satellite meeting of the European Congress of Immunology, ECI 2021, which will be organized in Belgrade, Serbia, 1-4 September, 2021 (http://www.eci2021.org).
